Mahanadi is a Tamil-Language Indian drama directed by Santhana Bharathi. The film portrays some evils of the society like corruption and criminal practices like child trafficking by means of the life story of a humble village man. The story shows how the family property of the protagonist is ruined. Kamal Haasan got the Best Actor National Film Award for his role in Mahanadi.

#2 Nayagan, 1987

This Mani Ratnam movie was a crime thriller released on Diwali of 1987. It was based on the real-life story of Bombay underworld don, Varadarajan Mudaliar. Kamal Hassan received the best actor National Film Award for playing the character of Velu Nayakan in the movie.

The Chieftain’s Son released in 1992 is the story of a foreign return son of a village chieftain.
