10 Upcoming Must-Watch Reboot TV Series

TV series draw huge inspirations from popular novels (13 reasons why, game of thrones) or are crime dramas. Television can become monotonous and boring after a point of time. In the recent times, to revive television, a variety of TV shows are being launched every month. Now TV shows are based on popular comic books, superheroes or reboot TV series. Just like Bollywood songs, reboot TV series are a rebooted version of the old TV Series. Most of the reboot TV series continue with the same storyline or are based around the original storyline. For some of us, it is a bliss to have our favorite TV shows back. If you haven’t the original TV series, then we suggest you to add these 10 upcoming reboot TV series to your watchlist.

#1 ReBoot: The Guardian Code

An upcoming American live-action TV series, produced by Mainframe Studios. It is a re-imagined and inspired by the original computer-animated TV series named Reboot. The Netflix Network has scheduled to release on air worldwide in March 2018. The YTV Network has scheduled to release on air worldwide in June 2018. This series is released after a gap of 24 years airing of the original series.

The plot revolves around lives of 4 teenagers who are supposedly the future era’s cyberspace guardians. The characters Austin, Parker, Trey, and Tamra typically solve the problems such as, to stop viruses from entering in a power station, to stop the flood in the city, or playing Criss Cross, Crash Hour with a city’s transportation grid, and are on many cyber missions to save the world.

#2 Jetsons

The 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series, Jetsons will be reintroduced with a newer version. It is claimed to be written by Gary Janetti. Based on the classic cartoon, The Reboot TV Show Jetsons is said to have fast forwarded to 100 years in the future. The original Jetsons is a counterpart to Hanna-Barbera’s popular prehistoric family animated series The Flintstones.

The plot of the TV show, 50years ago, placed a family man, George Jetson, as a central piece of a family attempting to balance the highs and lows of personal and professional life. In contrast, The 2018 Jetsons reboot show would be a live action and a multi-camera show instead of animated series.

#3 Will & Grace

When it premiered in 1998, Will commanded the gay character as TV lead and enacted the role of Lawyer. Grace was his best friend and owner of an interior design company. NBC aired 8 seasons. NBC officially intended to reboot the TV series when the crew members came together in 2016 to create a short web special release to urge Americans to vote in the 2016 Presidential elections. In January 2017, NBC made a deal for a newest prime time debut, the 9th season with 12 episodes in the series, which is airing during the 2017-18 season. In August 2017, it was declared again to cast 16 episodes, alongside the 10th season with 13-episodes.

Based out of New York City, Will & Grace TV Show emphasizes on the relationship between Will and Grace. Grace is a Jewish woman. Their friends are Karen and Jack. Karen is a brewed socialite, and Jack is an extravagantly gay actor. The chemistry of relationships features the problems of dating, marriage, and divorce; and also the key stereotypes of gay and Jewish culture.

#4 The Star Trek: Discovery

The star trek is an American science fiction TV series with its Original series aired during 1966 -1969. The redeveloped and standalone reboot TV series, Star Trek: Discovery plots back to a decade, before the events of the original series. Star Trek: Discovery premiered in September 2017. The 15-episode first season was streamed weekly. The series released a second season in October 2017.The plot of 2017 revolves around the Discovery of new worlds and various alien life forms, where one Starfleet officer is on a mission to learn and understand the alien civilization.

#5 Lost in Space

Lost in Space is an upcoming American science fiction TV show. The reboot TV series is based on the original series –Lost in Space telecasted in 1965. The Series is scheduled for release n April 2018 with 10 episodes. The plot talks about the adventures of a family, which is full of pioneering space explorers whose spaceship deviates from the track. Set in the futuristic era, in 2046, The spaceship of the Robinson family , named Jupiter 2, crashes on an unknown planet due to the accidental fissure on it. The Robinsons and other migrants are stranded in a strange alien environment.

#6 The Tick

The Tick is an American web comedy fiction TV series. The reboot TV series, firstly, streamed on Amazon Prime in August 2016. Later few episodes 2–6 were released in August 2017 and episodes 7–12 were released in February 2018. In January 2018, Amazon got the second season of 10 episodes, which is scheduled to release in 2019.

The plot talks about an accountant with no superpowers realizes that his city is under the wrath of a supervillain. As he struggles to uncover the conspiracy of the evils, he falls in alliance with a strange blue superhero. The Tick is a near-indestructible superhero who appears in a blue tick costume. He arrives the City to help fight the evil crimes and also uncovers the mysterious villains behind the city’s destruction. Their efforts lead to the clues of the existence of a long-dead supervillain called “The Terror” who holds the strings of the city’s underworld.

#7 The DuckTales

DuckTales is an American animated TV series on Disney XD network. The DuckTales 2017 series is a reboot TV series based on the original 1987 series. This reboot TV show is produced by Disney Television Animation. DuckTales was premiered in August 2017 along with  44-minute web special entitled “Woo-oo!”. The first season resumed in September 2017 and consisted of 21 episodes and an additional 44-minute web special. The series announced to come up with the second season in March 2017.

Carl Barks created the characters Scrooge McDuck, his nephew Donald Duck and his three grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.He also created additional characters for various adventures. The plot revolves around the main character along with his nephew, grandnephews and other close friends. Together, they take up various adventurous missions, which either involve seeking out treasure or driving away the villains who steal Scrooge’s fortune.

Reboot TV Series - The Ducktales

#8 Dynasty

Dynasty is an American prime time TV show. The reboot TV series is based on the 1980s original series. The new series stars Grant Show, Nathalie Kelley, Elizabeth Gillies, and James Mackay. The series Dynasty premiered in October 2017, on The CW network. On November 2017, The CW released the full series with a total of 22 episodes. There are several changes made to the original 1980s series. The film setting of the new series has moved from Colorado to Georgia. It showcases Blake’s fiancée Cristal and her nephew Sam are Hispanic, Change in Sam’s character to a gay man and both Michael Culhane and the Colby family are African-American.

The Plot follows the wealthiest families, the Carringtons, and the Colbys, as they grudge for the desire to regulate and control their wealth and fortune. The heiress Fallon Carrington is unhappy about the engagement of her billionaire father Blake with Cristal, a rival company’s employee. Fallon joins with her father’s former employee, Jeff Colby and plots to separate her father from Cristal. Cristal’s resourceful nephew Sam becomes romantically involved with Fallon’s brother Steven. Sam threatens Fallon to expose her. The plot also talks about the Carringtons who unite together to discover the mysterious death of Cristal’s former lover, but the people in the Carrington mansion do not stay united for long. The reboot TV series “Dynasty” features the glamour of extreme wealth and also exposes the darker side.

#9 Roseanne

Roseanne is an American TV Series that portrays the reality of the lives of middle-class families. This show originally aired between 1988 and 1997 with a total of 9 seasons and 222 episodes. It was listed in the TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. In 2017, ABC network declared the comeback of Roseanne with its 10th season to be launched in the air by March 2018. The 10th season is expected to cast the original crew of 90’s TV series with 9 episodes. The Plot is about the Conner family set in the backdrop of turbulent political times. The Conner family runs on a limited income and deals with everyday problems to make ends meet.  The Series not only sneaks into everyday problems that the working class Americans face in their lives but it is also about the family, love, acceptance and weaving the strongly bonded relationships.

#10 Shriman Shrimati Phirse

One of the most memorable Doordarshan’s comedy shows of the 90s on the Indian television is making a grand comeback with clean comedy on SAB TV. Originally aired in 1994, Shriman Shrimati is back on the screen with a slightly changed Title – Shriman Shrimati Phirse. This show will depict the contemporary version of 90’s show, Shriman Shrimati.

The plot is centered on the lives of two couples, who are neighbors. The comical element of the show is depicted in various forms, where the men of the neighboring households often attempt to entice each other’s wives, due to their similar thoughts and personalities. The original show had 2 seasons with a total of 143 episodes. This upcoming show is returning with its season 2 and has already made 40 episodes.
