#1 Blackberry Pops

Blacker the berry, the sweeter the fruit. Blackberry is a good source of Vitamin C with bioflavonoids, calcium and iron. Blackberry lowers the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Mix 2 tbsp sugar and 11/2 yogurt in one bowl and in other bowl mix crushes blackberries and sugar. Layer the two mixtures equally and swirl it with a toothpick. Insert a pop stick and freeze for 3 hours. The ice cream is good to be stored for 3 days.

#2 Chocolate Strawberry

In Chinese culture, strawberries are said to whiten teeth and cure both garlic breath and hangover. Strawberries are a good source of fibre that can lower cholesterol.

Chop 8 tbsp of semi-sweet chocolate and wash 1/2 kg strawberries. Keep the chocolate in microwave and turn the microwave on for 30 minutes. Hold the strawberry by its stem and dip it in the melted chocolate. Carefully, set the chocolate covered strawberries on a baking sheet or plate. Keep the tray in the fridge and let the chocolate cool.

#3 Blueberry Jam

Blueberries are antioxidant super stars. They are rich in dietary fibres, vitamin c and iron thus, helping prevent both intestinal upsets and urine tract infections.

Take 4 cups fresh blueberries (frozen work too but remember to thaw), 1 cup sugar and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Heat a pan and put the three ingredients at once. Stir the mixture and until its thickens. Your jam will be ready in 30 minutes.

#4 Raspberry Fizz

The red raspberry is full of antioxidants, vitamin c and Gallic acid.

On high flame, heat the pan and add 2 cups of water and sugar. Boil the mix until it thickens. Cool the syrup and add lemon juice, raspberry juice and ginger extract. Chill and serve.

#5 Green Beans with Nuts & Cranberry

Boil water in a pan and add green beans. Cook the beans till its tender. Drain and let the beans cool. In a salad bowl, mix olive oil with nuts and cranberry. Toss the green beans and mix it well. You may add Italian dressing or just add salt and pepper.

It usually seems difficult to prepare dishes out of gooseberries. It is thought be easily edible raw, but no there are many recipes that can be prepared using this berry.

This is an Indian recipe. Just boil the berries first. Dip them in sugar syrup. Add cardamom for taste.

#7 Mixed Berries Pancakes

Ingredients-

250 g self-raising flour
1 egg
375 ml buttermilk
40 g butter
200 g frozen mixed berries
250 ml maple syrup
1 split vanilla bean
Mixed berries (to serve)

Procedure-

Pour flour into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre. Pour egg and buttermilk into this well. Keep fixing the ingredients till they blend. Add the berries to the mixture. Let it rest for 25-30 minutes. Melt 20 g of butter in a pan. Spoon 1/4 cup of the pancake mixture into the pan. Cook till each side of the pancake turns golden. Perform the same for rest of the pancakes. Place maple syrup in a small saucepan. With the help of a knife scrap the seeds into the maple syrup. Then add the bean to the same. Cook it over a low heat. Remember to keep strring it until it’s warm enough. While serving, top the pancakes with extra berries. Serve the maple syrup in a jar to pour over the pancakes.

#8 Blueberry Muffins

Ingredients-

2 cups of all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup milk
1 cup fresh berries (of choice)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 egg

Procedure-

Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. Take around 10 muffin cups and grease them with oil. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar and baking powder. In another bowl, mix vegetable oil with egg and milk. Beat it well. Mix this to the previous mixture. Add the berries to it, preferably blueberries, raspberries, blackerries and strawberries. Fill the muffin cups. For making crumb toppings, mix sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon in a bowl. Then sprinkle it over the muffins before baking. Bake the muffins for 25-30 minutes.

#9 Mixed Berries Smoothie

Ingredients-

1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 frozen ripe banana
1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon honey

Procedure-

Mix all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Take glasses. place some frozen berries with ice cubes at the bottom of the glasses. Pour in the smoothie. Serve it chill.

#10 Raspberry Yogurt

One of the most popular prepared dish out of berries is yogurt.

Ingredients-

3-4 cups of raspberry
Granola
1 quart plain yogurt

Procedure-

Dry the berries and cut into desired sizes. In bowls or glasses, pour a layer of yogurt. Then place a layer of berries along with granola on top of it. Repeat the same for 2 or 3 times, till the bowls or glasses are filled. On the final layer of yogurt, top it up with fresh berries.

There are many other way to add berries to your meal. You can have them with tea or add them to your milk and cereals. Also, just like the muffins, you can bake cakes. You obviously can have them fresh and raw anytime. You can also prepare there juices with lime extract. You can ferment them into jams or even make wine out of them.
