Poly-cystic Ovary Syndrome is one of a major problem for women. It is a hormonal problem which could cause delayed periods or irregular periods. Vitamin B is responsible for proper functioning of hormones, sugar and fat metabolism. Women with PCOS should eat bright colored vegetables as it is a rich source of anti-oxidants.

These anti-oxidants are a good solution for the stress issues. Fibers and necessary vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients are abundant in the fruits.  Your body needs healthy fat which is in the nuts, seeds, avocado and olive oil.

  • You should not consume carbohydrate rich foods but combine them with protein rich foods. At the same time your carbohydrate level should not go very low.
  • Consume lower glycemic index foods such as bran cereal, wheat bread, and grains and unprocessed foods.
  • You can consume grilled tomato, capsicum, and mushroom for lunch.
  • Fruits such as apricots, cherries, plums and grapes have low glycemic index.
  • Avoid those foods which would trigger more hunger.


A nutritionist may help you regarding the PCOS diet.  They will give you advice about how to change your eating habits. According to your body weight the nutritionist will prepare the diet chart. They will ask you to maintain a food diary and to record the details about the food you have consumed. The nutritionist will make the necessary changes in the diet chart whenever it is required.
