9 Bollywood Movies We Are All Excited About

Kaabil vs Raees

2016 has been an interesting year for Bollywood. While ‘Udta Punjab‘ made headlines for its dispute with the Censor Board, biopics like ‘Neerja’, ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, ‘Sarbjit’ and ‘Dangal’ have set in the trend of biopics in Bollywood. Some highly anticipated films like ‘Shivaay’, ‘Fitoor’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ flopped at the box office, surprise hits included ‘Airlift’, ‘Pink’ and ‘Baaghi’. Just like 2016, 2017 seems to be a promising year. Let’s have a look at 9 most anticipated Bollywood movies of 2017.

#9 Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya

Scheduled to release on March 10, 2017, the movie is a rom-com film. The movie is the second installment to ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’. Just like the previous film, this one stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in titular roles.

#8  Rangoon

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, it is a period romance drama film, set during World War II. The film stars Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan  in lead roles. The movie, which was to be released in September 2016, will now be released on 24th February 2017.

#7 Jolly LLB 2

A sequel to 2013 courtroom drama film ‘Jolly LLB’, this film will release on February 10, 2017. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi play the lead roles while Saurabh Shukla and Arshad Warsi will be seen in special appearances.

#6 2.0

The successor to the 2010 blockbuster science fiction film ‘Robot’,  2.0 will have Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti while Akshay Kumar will play the antagonist. The film is scheduled to release around Diwali, in mid-October 2017.

#5 Bahubali 2 : The Conclusion

Yet another sequel, this film is the continuation of ‘Bahubali : The Beginning’, which had set the cash registers ringing in 2015. Finally, we will get answers for ‘Why did Katappa kill Bahubali?’ on 28th April, 2017.

#4 Jagga Jasoos

Set to release on April 7, 2017, the film is a musical adventure romantic comedy film written and directed by Anurag Basu. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif play the lead roles in the film.

#3 Tubelight

Written and directed by Kabir Khan, this film is a historical war drama film. Salman Khan plays the lead role of a man who falls in love with a Chinese girl during the 1962 Sino-India War.

#2 Kaabil

Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam play visually impaired characters in this film. Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy will play negative role in the film. It is slated to release on 25th January 2017.

#1 Raees

Set to clash with ‘Kaabil’ on January 25th 2017, ‘Raees’ is set in 1980s Gujarat. Said to be loosely based on the life of criminal Abdul Latif, the film stars Shahrukh Khan, Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
