7 Everyday Foods That Contain Nicotine

Nicotine is a highly addictive and toxic compound. Giving up smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco is not an easy task because of high-level of nicotine. However, nicotine is not just found in cigarettes or  tobacco; even some of our everyday common foods contain nicotine. Nicotine is mainly found in vegetables like eggplant, peppers and tomatoes that are part of the Solanaceae family. These vegetables, also known as nightshade vegetables, contain a compound known as alkaloid. Alkaloid could be highly toxic. There are certain individuals who could be allergic to nightshade vegetables. The good news is that the cooking reduces the nicotine level.
