It is the year of biopics in Bollywood. With Neerja and Saala Khadoos already in theatres, there are some much awaited films that will release this year.

#1 Aligarh

Cast: Manoj Bajpai, Rajkummar Rao – February 26

Aligarh is the real-life story of Dr. Shrinivas Ramachandra Siras. He was suspended by his University after he was caught by a TV channel while having sex with another man. He won the case and his suspension was revoked. However, he died six months before his suspension. He committed suicide or was murdered – police was not able to find substantial proof. However, gay relationships are still a taboo in India.

#2 Jai Gangaajal

Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Manav Kaul March 4

This is one of the rarest biopics based on Abha Mathur, the first female superintendent of Bankipur District in Bihar. She is forced to target corruption as well as violence induced by the local MLA. Jai Gangaajal is inspired by Durga Shakti Nagpal’s life. While Prakash Jha’s previous movie Satyagraha gave us a really bad migraine, the trailer of Jai Gangaajal looks promising.
