6 Hollywood Sequels to Watch Out for!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Looks like 2016 is the year of sequels and spin-offs! We saw superheroes who turn against each other, return of Ed and Lauren Warren and an amnesiac blue fish trying to figure out her past. But the list does not end just here. The year is yet to see return of Jason Bourne and Robert Langdon on big screens but there were few other movies that we are anxiously waiting for.

#6 Ghostbusters – 15th July

Well, this isn’t technically a sequel, but rather a revamping of the original comedy classic – and with an all-female cast! While this might have disappointed a few fans, I think it’s a great idea – and with funny ladies like Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones.

 #5 Star Trek Beyond – 22nd July

Hopefully, this movie is better than Into Darkness. With the rebooted cast of Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock, Zoe Saldana as Lt. Uhura, Karl Urban as Bones, John Cho as Sulu, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, and Simon Pegg as Scotty returning, here’s hoping the franchise saves face just in time for its 50th anniversary!

#4 Jason Bourne 5 – 29th July

Bourne is back! Although I legitimately thought that Ultimatum was it – four is high enough a number already – Matt Damon doesn’t seem to be done with Bourne! Bourne comes back out of retirement in this movie, and not much is known what’s going to happen – we’re like Jason Bourne in Identity this time.

#3 Suicide Squad – 4th August

The number of people willing to get creeped out by Jared Leto as The Joker is way too high! Or they probably want to drool over Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Or fangirl over Will Smith as Deadshot. You would think not that many people would be rooting for Batman’s villians, but the world seems too eager to watch the Suicide Squad set screens on fire and blow minds! With a stellar ensemble cast including all the above mentioned stars and actors like Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney as Enchantress, Rick Flagg and Captain Boomerang respectively, Suicide Squad is on every DC fan’s must-watch list.

#2 Inferno – 14th October

Tom Hanks is back as Robert Langdon, the Harvard symbologist who now finds himself in the thick of an adventure that seems destined for him to read the Map of Hell. Langdon figures this mystery out with the help of Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones). One can expect amazing backdrops in Italy, particularly Florence, and an adventure that would keep you on the edge of your seat.

#1 Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them – 18th November

When J.K. Rowling announced Fantastic Beasts was going to be made into a film, the whole world lost its mind – it’s going to be a re-visitation to the world the whole world had a hard time letting go of (I still haven’t and probably never will) and a beginning of a new franchise. With Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, here’s hoping Fantastic Beasts will be just as magical as the Harry Potter series was.
