4 Yoga Poses That Can Help You Fight Diabetes

#1 Pranayam

In this one breathes in deeply and breathes out. This from of practice helps in improving circulation of the body.

Steps to do this:

  • Sit on  floor on Yoga mat and fold your legs in a cross legged position.
  • Now, straighten your back and place your hands on the knees facing upwards. Then close your eyes.
  • Breathe in and out slowly. Breathe in deep, then hold it for a few seconds then exhale slowly.
  • Repeat this at least 8-10 times.


#2 Vajrasana

This pose provides an individual with  a key to achieve improved digestion and relax the mind and thus fight diabetes.

Steps to do this:

  • Sit on the floor on a mat or directly on the ground.Fold your legs and sit in such a manner such that your heel touches your butt.
  • Fold your legs so that your heels touch your butt
  • Place your hands on your lap like shown in the figure below
  • Hold the sitting pose for two minutes (to start with). You will feel a stinging pain in your feet if you are not habituated to sitting this way. You can stretch your legs and rest for a while and start again.
  • Sit for a minimum of two minutes. You should increase the minutes over time

#3 Halasana: 

This pose helps in stimulating the pancreas, thyroid glands, lungs and abdominal organs. This pose helps in proper blood circulation and improves digestion of the body. It is a remedy to how to prevent diabetes.

Steps to do this: 

  • Lie on the floor joining your legs.
  • Keep your palms on the ground and breathe normally.
  • While exhaling, start raising both your legs straightly upwards. Try to touch the floor with the help of your toes. Place your hands flat on the ground.
  • Breathe slowly. Breathe in when coming down and breathe out while going upwards.
  • Hold the posture for a minimum of 2 minutes.
  • Never drop down immediately.

#4 Ardha Matsyendrasana:

This asana helps in better digestion of the body and squeeze out toxins from the body. This can help in increasing the capacity to hold more oxygen, hence helping to fight diabetes.

Steps to do this: 

  •  Sit either in Vajrasana position or straight with your legs stretched out in front of you.
  • Now bend your left leg and place it beside your right feet.
  • Now, put your left leg over the right one.
  • Place left hand on the right knee and put your right hand beside you.
  • Now start twisting from the waist, shoulders and neck side. With this sequence in the right side, look over the right shoulder.
  • Hold on as long as you can. Breathe normally.
  • To come back to normal position, start releasing it slowly.
  • Repeat it to the other side.
