Milton Berle once said “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”. And it is true. Opportunity will not always come knocking at your door. Sometimes you have to make a way for it to come. If one is dedicated and hardworking, the path will lead to success. So far all this sounds good. But sadly today mere dedication is not enough. There are thousands of children in our country who, in spite of having talent, are unable to use it to their full potential due to lack of funds and opportunities.
However this could not deter Navnita, Manoj, Harshita and Arbaz from realizing their dreams. With a little push from “Dream a Dream” coupled with their determination and sheer tenacity, these 4 young talents, whom destiny tried to stop, have now got the golden opportunity to participate in the “Street Football World Festival” taking place in France in 2016.
Most of the children coming from vulnerable backgrounds do not get the opportunity to express their talents. They face lot of hardships. Young boys and girls work at small shops and factories after school to make their ends meet. Many girls are also forced to get married at a young age. Even if they are introduced to basic education, they remain unaware of their flair which can generally be nurtured by the extracurricular activities that take place in high profile schools. Here in comes the role of organizations like “Dream a Dream”. “Dream a Dream” is a Bengaluru based non-profit organization which aims at providing after school life skills programs to such less opportunistic children. They are given option between sports and arts and children can choose skills based on their liking. Their dreams are nurtured and their talent is helped to improve.
For kids like Navnita, Manoj, Harshit and Arbaz it’s a dream-come-true to participate in such a prestigious football match and to visit another country. Most of these children come from financially weak families. Organizations like “Dream a Dream” help the kids with opportunities to realize their long cherished dream. Not just these kids, there are hundreds of other kids who have been benefited from this initiative. Such organization help the children use their after school time in honing their skills.
These 4 young kids are an inspiration to thousands of children to whom life has been very hard. Not just children from vulnerable background, all the young minds of our country should take inspiration from them. Children are the future of the country. Our country’s development surely depend s on how these young minds are trained.
