Bollywood directors are like the the conductors of a grand and opulent orchestra that weaves stories on celluloid. Its about time we acknowledge their genius and give them credit where it is due. Here is a snippet into the works of 4 Bollywood directors that have upped the ante!

#1 Zoya Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar’s sister has not only brought a fresh and young vibe to Indian cinema, but she is one director who doesn’t shy away from experimenting while still retaining the finer nuanced classics of filming. From her first movie, Luck By Chance, to Dil Dhadakne Do, she has retained a refreshing take on modern life and family. Can’t wait to see what she has in store next.

#2 Tigmanshu Dhulia

Dhulia’s genre of typically masculine movies like Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypur are both critically and commercially acclaimed. The raw and gritty take in his movies is different from his contemporaries’ take on action and gravity defying stunts that fail to make the movie-goer grip the seat the way Dhulia’s does. More of his work for us, please!

#3 Shakun Batra

All hail the King of young, flirty and generally good vibes movies including Kapoor & Sons and Ek Main Aur Ek Tu. Like Zoya Akhtar, Batra’s take on life, love and age is fun to watch as well as introspective in its own way.

#4 Imtiaz Ali

The Jack of all Trades of movies is here – with the romantic Jab We Met to the introspective Highway, Ali’s work is carefully tailored to his flavour of the project. He works hard at incorporating maximun impact into the simplest of scenes in his movies, and we cannot wait to see a house full in his next movie.
