The Little Prince

“When someone blushes, doesn’t that mean ‘yes‘?”

The Little Prince (French: Le Petit Prince), first published in 1943, is a novella and the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944). The story is about an aviator stranded in the Sahara desert, as the narrator attempts to repair his plane, the little prince recounts the story of his life.

If Saint-Exupéry is to be believed, The Little Prince is a book for children written for grown-ups. It can be read on many different levels to provide pleasure and food for thought for readers of all ages.

With the upcoming movie release of ‘The Little Prince’ on Netflix, after its release in the theaters worldwide (unfortunately not in India though), here we are sharing some quotes from this famous children’s book that prove why this story is way more than just a fiction tale for little children and why is it so that one must read this book at least once in a lifetime.

 #1 On Grown-Ups

Take it easy! The art of complicating things that we master as we grow up, is probably why we think our childhoods kept us way happier than we are now.

#2 On Responsibility for the Tamed

Be aware! We play so many new roles in life and we impact so many new lives everyday, but what we tend to ignore is that only and only we alone are responsible for what we create, impact and change.

#3  On Misunderstandings

Silence is golden! It is sometimes our words that create problems and distances. We should all try to just keep quiet and give each other a chance to explain and let circumstances unravel on their own.

#4 On Uniqueness

Unique they are! Each one of us should always admire and appreciate the uniqueness of each person and especially the ones that we love and most importantly the ones that love us.

#5 On Loneliness

Sometimes it is all too loud! There are times when we feel lonely even if we are surrounded by people, even when we have the greatest friends and family around us to talk to, but what we often forget is that being at peace with one’s own self is an achievement in itself.

#6 On Tolerance

Tolerance is the virtue! We need to sometimes bear with the thorns in order to grow a rose and these thorns are the ones that make us strong, fearless and more prepared for the bigger hurdles.

#7 On Spending Time

All in the moment! The good times and the memories of those good times is what makes the special people in our lives special. These are in fact the times that we live for, isn’t it?

#8 On Forgetting The Child In You

Not a child’s play! The innocence that each of us is born with, we lose it over time and that is something we forget to retain. The sad part is that it is one of the hardest things to regain.

#9 On the Clarity of Hearts

The secret! The most important and prestigious things are the ones that are felt with the heart and not the ones that our brains long for!

#10 On Self-Importance

You are the most important! You have your flaws and your capabilities, your desires and feelings, your decisions and thoughts, but the best thing about them is that they are yours. Dare to be unapologetically yourself!

Self Importance

And now that you’ve read all these, I think you might just want to look at the beautiful trailer!

Here it is! Enjoy :)
